There are different funding opportunities available for PlantHealth students:
- Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Scholarships
- PlantHealth Consortium scholarships
- Erasmus+ mobility grant for Year 2
- UNIPD Scholarship schemes
- Paid internships during Master Thesis period
- Erasmus+ Master Degree Loans
- Other funding options:
- Scholarships from public and private entities
- Private funding from companies and international organizations of the plant health sector.
Applicants are encouraged to search for external funding as early as possible.
The EU-funded Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters scholarships cover:
- Student participation costs (including the tuition fees, full insurance coverage and any other mandatory costs related to the student participation in the Master).
- A subsistence allowance of 1,400 Euros/month (covering travel, visa, installation and subsistence costs) for the entire duration of the EMJM programme (maximum 24 months).
The number of EMJM scholarships available for PlantHealth students is different each academic year. The PlantHealth Master offers these EMJM scholarships to students from all over the world. Moreover, the PlantHealth Master will also offer some additional EMJM scholarships to students from certain targeted regions of the world. Support is also available for students with special needs.
Students who have previously obtained an EMJM scholarship are not eligible to apply for an additional scholarship under the EMJM program.
The PlantHealth Consortium awards scholarships to the best candidates who apply before the indicated deadline each year. These scholarships will consist in a total reduction from the Participation Costs (including the tuition fees and insurance coverage).

To apply for these scholarships the only requirement is to submit a complete application in the first call for applications. Allocation will be done by the PlantHealth Consortium based on the application quality and the availability of funds.
The PlantHealth Consortium scholarships do not cover travel nor living allowance. However, they are compatible with other kinds of scholarships and/or financial support.
The number of Consortium Scholarships available for PlantHealth students is different each academic year. The PlantHealth Master offers these scholarships to students from all over the world.
PlantHealth students may apply for an Erasmus+ mobility grant to support the costs of their second academic year in the programme. The Erasmus+ grant is not means tested and is open to students of all nationalities.
The Erasmus+ grant (around 200-300 EUR per month depending on the destination country) is intended to assist students with additional costs incurred during the second year of study. However, it is not enough to cover all expenses and should not be relied on for essential living costs such as food and rent.
Students with M2 at University of Padua (UNIPD) may apply to the Regione Veneto Scholarships. The amount of the scholarship varies according to the student’s family income and other conditions specified in the Annual Call. The scholarship may include both the exemption of tuition fees and a subsistence allowance, as well as free or discounted student services such as accommodation, meals at university canteens, etc.

Besides, students with second master year (M2) at UNIPD may apply for a dedicated scholarships offered by UNIPD to joint programme students for fourth semester (if not spent in Italy). If the master thesis research is carried out in a company, during the internship period students may receive a monthly scholarship or salary from the company that employs them.
This is a common practice in companies from certain countries such as France or Germany.
Erasmus+ Master Degree Loans are EU-guaranteed loans with favourable pay-back terms that can help you finance a Master course.
The scheme is designed to support postgraduate students and protect them from student hardship with social safeguards including:
- No need for collateral from students or parents, ensuring equality of access
- Favourable, better than market interest rates
- Pay-back terms that allow graduates up to two years to find work before beginning repayment.
